Bad luck for Navy ... Super Bowl pick

Apparentely I'm a bit of a jinx for the Navy -- hopefully my luck only applies to sporting events. Andy gets free tickets to Navy sports events through his company. So far, we've been to a football game and two men's basketball games. Of the games I've attended, so far, they've lost one football game and two men's basketball games. I'm telling you, I'm a jinx.

In all fairness to me, they were on a losing streak before we showed up. If the Navy boys only had an idea of how much I love them, they'd win for me. Don't worry, Andy is fully aware that I have a big crush on Navy boys as a general rule, and he's OK with it. Our next game is a women's basketball game -- Navy vs. Army. Army's good, so it's not looking good for me to break my jinx.

On a side note, the Navy Academy campus is really nice. A couple weeks ago, when we went to our first game, we walked around the campus for a bit. There's a really pretty -- and kind of romantic -- bridge that crosses over the water and goes to an open field. It branches off to a really nice memorial garden that pays a special tribute to all former Naval Academy officers.

We spent some time the first night (a loss to Colgate) walking around the campus and taking in all the scenary. This picture here is a view of some of the more picturesque buildings on campus, which is right in the heart of Annapolis. I didn't take it -- it's from some web site. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera.
The Navy boys basketball team apparently lives and dies by the 3-pointer (between us, more often they die by it). They seem to have a pretty solid first half, then they just run out of steam, which I find kind of odd considering they're they Navy. You'd think conditioning wouldn't be an issue. Hopefuly, the women's team will have better luck when we go see them in a couple weeks.
I'll let you know how that goes.

On an unrelated note, tomorrow ... err today ... is Super Bowl day. I went to the grocery store and bought fixins for wings and other goodies. Although it's just Andy and I, we're planning on enjoying the festivities.
My pick for the Super Bowl ... Peyton and the Colts take the Bears, 31-24. And Peyton Manning somehow finds a way to gain even more exposure in mainstream media and endorsements. Don't get me wrong, despite all of his exposure, I like the guy. He comes across as pretty genuine and down-to-earth. Besides, I'm getting really tired off all the media hype about how he's never gotten the team to the big game. He needs the win. The Colts need to win.
But let's be honest here, I'm mostly watching for the commericals. Sorry, honey.
