Owen's first cold

Four full days in daycare and Owen caught a cold! Poor little guy -- not even three months old and already sick :(

He's been a bit under the weather since Thursday night. So after a couple weeks of great sleep, we've been up every couple of hours. He's got so much gunk in there he keeps choking and it wakes him up, and then he cries, and then he thinks he needs to eat to go back to sleep.

Hopefully this cold passes soon. I hate him being sick! I guess I better get used to it with all the kid germs he's around.

I'm hoping he's better by the weekend. We have big plans! I joined a meetup group for moms in the area. Saturday morning we're supposed to go to a family Halloween party at a local library. And Sunday there's a Halloween dressup playdate brunch we're planning on. I know he's a little young for the festivities, but he looks so cute in his monkey costume and I really want to meet some other mommies. There will be other babies his age and if I can get to know the moms now, we can keep the playdates going when he's old enough to appreciate them.

I'll post Halloween pics later, but here's a sneak peek.

A big week for the little one

Last week Owen started his first week of daycare -- well it's only two days, but it feels like a week to me!

He goes Tuesdays and Wednesdays and he's home with me on Mondays and Thursdays and with his daddy on Fridays. Anyway, I dropped him off Tuesday and cried just about all the way to work. I called to check on him three times. I was worried because we were still having trouble getting him to take a bottle. The first time I called he was screaming in the background and they were having difficulty feeding him. By the second time, he'd had a bottle and was napping. And the third time was the same -- bottle and nap.

Apparently he did great and they're already all in love with him. Of course! :)

Day 2 went much better, for me at least. No tears and I only called once. Again, they said he was just perfect. In fact, his teacher said she'd never seen a baby that young who is so alert and awake for such long stretches without being fussy. He's a rock star!

Yesterday I took Little O to a gastroenterologist to see if we can knock out the reflux. After having a great week or so, Thursday and Friday were pretty awful so I was hoping to get some relief for the little guy. Unfortunately, it was very unproductive. Owen screamed the whole time and it was hard to talk with the doctor. Basically he said stay the course with the prevacid and gave me tips to keep him comfortable. He thinks it might also have something to do with me drinking milk because I had a bunch Thursday and hadn't really been drinking milk prior to that when things were going so well. So I'm cutting out dairy for a while to see if it helps again. He goes back for a follow-up in a month. Hopefully he's in better spirits at that time!

It's been so rainy and cold the past few days. I'm looking forward to the warming up next week so I can take Owen outside again!

The punkin and the pumpkins

Yesterday we took Owen to a local farm not far from the house to buy a pumpkin and take the obligatory baby and pumpkin pictures. He was a little young yet for the festivities, which we knew, but we're really looking forward to bringing him back next year! Hayrides, make your own scarecrows, pick your own pumpkins ... good stuff!

We got a nice pumpkin along with cider, apple butter and yummy salsa. I could go nuts at a place like that, but I showed restraint.

Anyway, without further ado, here are the photos:

I took this one later when we got home. I love the look on his face!

Bright sun!

Yes, we had to prop him up there ... we're shameless.

Transitions

Yesterday and today Owen had his daycare transition days. It's a two-hour block where they get adjusted. But in reality, it's for mom. Owen didn't know where he was. But I definitely did. Of course, I cried when I dropped him off. I think I would have made it out the door if the woman who runs the place hadn't tried to comfort me.

It's hard to drop your baby off anywhere but especially with virtual strangers. The longest I've left Owen has been about 4 hours and that was only with his daddy. And Andy's great with him, but I was nervous just about every minute. I hate being away from him when he's so tiny. I do believe that daycare is a great thing for kids to help them socialize and get ready for school, but I just wish I could wait until Owen is 6 months old. Or better yet, a year old.

At least he's the baby of his class and his teachers are already fully in love with him. He's gonna be even more spoiled than he already is. And it's only for two days a week so I know it will be OK. It's just even harder than I expected. I'm so in love with this kid!

Speaking of lovable, here's a great picture of him wearing a special little outfit Grandma Mac bought for him. It's a touch big in the body, but the hat fits just right! Then again, his head is in the 90-95th percentile for babies his age. But don't worry, we don't tease him -- don't want him to have a complex! :)

That's right, our Owen is 100% organic!

My sleeping boy

This is too cute not to share. Owen sucks in his sleep -- and it's adorable!

Where does the time go?!

I can't believe my little guy is already two months old. We celebrated the day Saturday by taking a trip to the outlet mall in Hagerstown. Grandma Mac gave us a 20% off coupon for Carter's and we certainly put it to good use!
We got Owen a Halloween costume and probably a dozen outfits (multi-sets though, so we didn't go that nuts!). I can't believe how much we got for so little money! We even hit the LL Bean outlet and got him the cutest little snowsuit. We also went to a bookstore and got 6 board books for only $15! I love outlet malls.
I posted some great photos and a really cute video on the Owen 365 blog, so be sure to check that out too.
Tomorrow, Owen has his transition days at daycare. That means he goes in for two hours tomorrow and Wednesday just as a "getting to know you" sort of thing. They say it's for the kids, but really it's for the parents. I'll probably be a wreck in that two hours, but I'm going to try to be productive. Next week we start the permanent schedule of Tuesday and Wednesday full day daycare. I'll work from home Mondays and Thursdays and Andy will be here on Fridays. While I'd much rather be here with him every day, overall I think it's a really good schedule. And I know daycare will be good for him. He'll actually be learning Spanish every Wednesday, which is pretty cool.
Here's a few pictures of my little two-month-old boy!
All tuckered out from his day at the outlet malls.

Great picture of daddy and owen taken last night.
