Another round -- on the house

Today we drove around Annapolis looking at places where we might like to live. We found a couple that were really cute and only a few miles from the adorable downtown Annapolis square, which is right on the Chesapeake Bay. The bad news is we've already put a deposit and application down on a place that we really don't want. We were feeling desperate and our realtor encouraged us to make a move on this place so we did. But it's a condo and we're used to a little more space/privacy than that offers. So now we're hoping we can get out of that -- or at least get a chance to explore these other two options more. Either way, it looks like Annapolis is where we're going to end up, which is a good thing. Annapolis is cool enough in and of itself to warrant a trip to come visit us, once we have a place.

This is the view down the square. I don't know if you can tell on the screen, but in the distance is the Chesapeake Bay. There's a pier and boats everywhere. Some you can rent for the day and others that are private. Annapolis is also full of history -- and great shops and restaurants. It really is a great little city. Plus it's where the Naval Academy is, and I have a soft spot in my heart for the Navy boys. Don't worry, Andy knows and he's OK with this :)

This is me on our first trip standing a few months ago on the pier in the square. There's a bunch of great seafood restaurants in the area (and of course, crabcakes). If I haven't mentioned yet in this blog, I LOVE crabcakes. It's true. I never would've imagined it, but they are fantastic. In fact, I love crab meat period. A few weeks ago I had spider sushi -- it's a regular sushi roll with a big piece of fried crab on top. Yum. Yes, I also love sushi (not the raw fish kind, but the cooked stuff, especially with the veggies). I know some of you are scrunching up your faces right now and saying, "EW, sushi." I know this because I used to feel the same way -- but you have to give it a chance. Next time I see you, remind me of this and we'll go get some sushi. (Thanks Joye for introducing me to sushi!)

This is a World War II memorial on the way to Annapolis. You can see the Bay and the city off in the distance. These types of memorials and historic markers are all over the place here. Like I said, rich in history. So in conclusion, come visit us! (When we have a place to live).

P.S. Congrats, Amanda! I know you and Austin are going to have a long and happy life together!!

Hey Big! I love the pics, and hope that everything works out with the house hunting. Don't you hate pushy realtors?? I'll be thinking of you guys, and hopefully you'll have a new place to call home any day!!!

Angie -- I just drove to Brooklyn with my friend George ('member him?) in a budget truck and after that 18 hour experience, I will only be flying to visit you...

I hope your house-hunt goes well! I'm sure there's a way to get the place you want.

So, if Annapolis is rich in history, then it's rich in ghost stories and haunts. I'm so there! It looks awesome!
