Happy Birthday, Layla!

That's right, I'm honestly about to write an entire blog entry about my dog's birthday. Don't judge me, I don't have kids.

Anyway, Layla turned 2 today. We're hoping this means she's finally going to start acting like less of a pup and more of a dog. She's made tons of progress with her behavior and listening skills. She's still a complete nut when we have visitors though -- we're working on that.

It was a pretty low-key celebration -- once the clowns left anyway. And the hot-air balloon wasn't nearly as popular as I thought it would be, but the pony was a big hit. Relax, I'm kidding.
That picture at the right is my goofy attempt to make Andy smile. Oh, and he will when he sees this image on our desk top. I did the same thing for Christmas and he about fell over. I know it's rough, but I don't have Photoshop so I had to use more crude means. Believe me, I can think of few pleasant scenarios involving trying to get Layla to wear a hat. Most of them end with a lost finger or two and none of them are pretty.
She did get a cannister of squeaky tennis balls and a fake bacon filled bone. Bone was real, bacon was not. That actually was a big hit. We laid a bunch of rags on the carpet (those bones are disgusting) and just let her go to town. She chewed on it for about 2 hours, giving Andy and I a nice, relaxing evening.

Isn't she the cutest thing? Look at that face. Happy Birthday, Layla. Enjoy it while you can ... we will be having kids eventually.
