Andy and I went out for dinner last night for the first time in a quite a while and thoroughly enjoyed it. We thought since all of our Christmas money is going to getting our Maryland tags (I'll save that long and expensive story for another post), we'd do something nice for ourselves.
We went to McGarvey's Saloon and Oyster Bar in downtown Annapolis. Their speciality is obviously oysters, but I knew going into it that I was probably having a crabcake sandwich (as part of my quest to find the best crabcakes in Maryland) and oysters were not on the menu, not my menu anyway. Apparently, there really is a first time for everything.
Somehow Andy talked me into getting Oysters as an appetizer. I had promised to jump onboard with his "try new things in 2007" resolution, so I went for it. My only stipulation was that they had to be cooked. So we ordered Oysters Rockefeller. I have to admit, it was tasty. True, it was covered in spinach and cheese and some kind of fancy sauce, but tasty nonetheless. I'm glad I tried it. We topped it off with McGarvey's other specialty, their locally brewed Aviater Lager. Yum.

As for the crabcake sandwich, thumbs up. I still have many more to try though before being qualified to make a decision. Yep, I have a lot of work to do. It's a tough job ...
Another fun first came today when Andy and I went to Fuddruckers. I begin my healthy eating pledge in earnest on Monday, so I had to get my burger craving settled. Anyway, as I sat down to eat my lunch, I looked up and sitting down at the table just next to us were two nuns.

"Maria, makes me laugh"
Of all the places I would think I'd see my first nun, Fuddrucker's just isn't one of them. Oh well, a nun's gotta eat, right? :)
