A whirlwind weekend

Wow, what a weekend. It's been a busy one!

On Friday, I went to Silver Spring to see a friend at work's boyfriend's band play at a local bar and to check out the huge Harry Potter book release party in town there. The band was good -- lead singer is obviously heavily influenced by Glen Phillips and had a very simliar singing style.

The Harry Potter thing was CRAZY. Apparently, it was the second-largest even in the nation -- only New York City had a bigger event. There were about 1,500 people there and several hundred of them were dressed up. See event here -- this is also where I took the pictures from as I stupidly forgot my camera. Again, for the record, I did not dress up. Nor did I wait 3 hours for a book. I went Saturday and got it instead.

Crazy, huh?

So Saturday, I spent the bulk of the afternoon running errands and getting our house ready for company. Andy gets a lot of the credit for the cleaning though -- he's so good :) My friend Bonnie (who was my first friend at the MDJ - also where Andy and I met) is moving to New York soon and stopped by Annapolis with her sister for the night on her way up to visit her hubby, who moved there a couple months ago.

Her request was beer and seasfood (especially crabs) ... this is part of why I love Bonnie. We happily obliged and took Bonnie and Michelle to Buddy's Crabs and Ribs in downtown Annapolis where we all had oysters on the half shell, beer, crab cakes and a bunch of other yummy treats. Since Bonnie's birthday was Friday, they brought out a huge piece of chocolate cake that we pretty much demolished.

This morning we got up and headed back downtown to the Rams Head Tavern for Sunday brunch, where they have an excellent menu and live music out on the porch. Then we headed down to the waterfront so they could see the Chesapeake ... getting only briefly sidetracked by a sign for $1 mimosas ... they were good ... and spent some time checking out all the people on their big fancy yachts and sailboats. We all kinda hated them a little, but it was still fun.

They headed out this afternoon ... now we're just deciding how long before we can invite ourselves up to New York to stay with them ;)

Within minutes of them leaving I was reading Harry Potter. I told myself I'd take this one slow and enjoy it since it's the last one. Um ... that's not working out so well.
