Before I report on my fabulous weekend, I also need to wish a happy belated birthday to my pop. Happy Birthday, Dad!
So this past weekend we had visitors at our tiny Annapolis condo, and surprisingly to Andy and I, it held everyone nicely. My friend Joye was in town for a conference, so she tacked on an extra day so we could hang out. We spent Saturday just visiting -- running errands and enjoying some lunch. Then Muffin and Sean arrived Saturday evening and we all headed out for dinner and a little Annapolis barhopping.
We started at Buddy's Crabs and Ribs for dinner. It's a fun place with really good food. They get most of their seafood from the Chesapeake, so it's VERY fresh. In my quest to find the best crabcakes in Maryland, we ordered mini crab cakes -- delicious. In fact, the best I've had to date, but I have a long way to go. I'm still a little disappointed that Sean wouldn't try one, but in the end, it just meant more for me :)

Crabs like beer too. I think that's part of what I love about them.
After Buddy's, we hit a few local bars and ended the night at Castlebay, a little Irish pub with live music. Sunday morning we hit McGarvey's for brunch and took a very brief walking tour of Annapolis. It was a little too cold for everyone to enjoy for long.
After that we had to say goodbye to Joye, who headed back home. Next up was a trip across the Bay Bridge. Very pretty.

Then because we're not as young as we once were and a night of staying up REALLY late and drinking takes a toll, we came home for naptime before our concert -- the main event of the weekend. The concert was our birthday present to Muffin. They're huge Glen Phillips fans, and he was playing at the Ram's Head Tavern, which is a very intimate little concert venue in downtown Annapolis. It was a great show!
And that was it -- the weekend came and went way too fast, but we had a great time (and hope Muffin and Sean and Joye did too! Muffin -- thanks for spending your birthday with us!
FYI -- supposed to snow again tomorrow. Again, I apologize for the challenge for winter to "bring it." It's cold again. Really cold. Sorry.

Next time you have guests visit you in Annapolis, you really need to consider visiting many of the historic sites as well as the restaurants. There are several great and reasonably priced options. The Hammond-Harwood House has the best collection of fine arts in Annapolis, including serveral Peale paintings as well as John Shaw furniture. Admission is only $6.00. Discover Annapolis Tours operates a trolley tour in town and all Annapolis residents can ride for free. Capital City Colonials walking tours allow residents to to pay only $5.00 when they bring a paying friend or relative for $15. The tour takes you around town and into the State House, St. Ann's Church, and a colonial kitchen. History Quest has free exhibits on the top two floors. And soon -- boating oportunities will abound.
Hey! Look, my first ad -- I have officially arrived. Or maybe I just say the word Annapolis way too much.
