Happy Halloween -- a little late

I was looking through my camera pictures and saw my pumpkin I carved for the contest at our work Halloween party and thought I'd throw a picture on here. No, I didn't win (though I suspect it was rigged!) but I thought he was very cute.

I did, however, win first place in the Halloween-themed dessert contest. First prize was a $50 gift certificate, so Andy and I enjoyed a good dinner out on my company's dime. Always a nice treat! I had a crabcake sandwich and a tasty brew from my new favorite local restaurant/brewery here. Yum! What did I make to deserve such a treat, you might ask? Well, I made spider cupcakes, and believe me, I earned every penny of that gift certificate because it was a time consuming undertaking.

This one's not mine, it's from the recipe page, but mine were just as cute, but without the fancy plate. Except I couldn't find black licorice, so my spiders had red legs.

Anyway -- spent the weekend packing and we'll be moving on Friday (provided that we actually get a lease - yeah, that's a whole nother story). So wish us luck! I'll send out our new address/phone number as soon as we're moved in.

I did sort of use a kit. I found a pattern online and used those fancy pumpkin carving tools :)
