And another one

After we walked around UVA and the surrounding area, we hit downtown Charlottesville for dinner and ended up at South Street Brewery. It was Tuesday night so we lucked out on some great specials ($2.50 beers!). I had Absolution Ale (they advertise that it won't wash your sins away but after a few, you just won't care) and Andy had Satan's Pony and something else that I can't remember. The beer was good and the food was REALLY good.

The next morning we were off early for Monticello. We walked around for a while and then went for our 10 a.m. tour. Unfortunately, you can't take pictures inside, so if you want to see that, click here..

Why not start off with the famous picture from the back of the nickel, huh?

The house is beautiful and both Andy and I had a newfound respect for Thomas Jefferson. I knew he was a man of high ideals and many, many talents, still I had no idea how much. We were awestruck.

Anyway, here are a few more pictures from our tour and more will be coming in my next few posts.

How about that for a backyard?

This is the front of the house -- where the tour bus drops you off.

Here's a shot of the gardens.
