Monkeys monkeys everywhere: Owen's first Halloween

Owen had a big Halloween weekend. On Friday we went to his daycare Halloween party, Boo at the Shoe. I left work early, rushed home, put his costume on and got there just a few minutes after it started. We found his teachers and met another little monkey in his class. Unfortunately probably less than 30 minutes into it, he fell asleep in my arms there. So, we left early. But I got to meet some of the parents in his class, which was nice.

On Halloween morning, Owen and I headed to a family party at a local library to meet up with a mom's group I joined. He slept through the first few minutes but was awake and alert for most of the storytime, which was really cute. After storytime, they broke into groups for activities that were all a little old for him so we headed out. I met a few nice moms, but they were all stay-at-home moms so most of their meet ups are during weekdays and their little ones were all a good bit older. And it just didn't feel like a great fit. The moms were way too put together -- dressed to the nines for a library party playdate!

Halloween night I planned on dressing the little monkey back up and handing out candy with him, but he had other plans :) He spit up all over his costume (and me) after the first kids came. So I changed him (and me) and he promptly fell asleep, missing the rest of the festivities. But I saw lots of cute kids!

The next morning, we got up for a Halloween brunch with another mom's group I joined. This one's for working moms. I arrived with baby and homemade quiche (my first and actually pretty good!) in tow and was the first one there after the organizer. She was wearing sweats. I immediately knew this group would be more my speed :)

It was a great turnout -- 11 moms and 11 kids total. Babies ranged from 7 weeks to 9 months and there were a few toddlers too. Owen and I were there for a full 2 and a half hours and he was awake, alert and happy the whole time! I was so impressed with my little guy!
