Last week Andy and I drove down to Atlanta to visit my family and go to our baby shower. I'll post more on the trip later and get the bad stuff out of the way first. Up until Sunday night/Monday morning, the trip was fantastic. We went to the Braves game Friday, had the shower Saturday, relaxed on Sunday and then went out for a nice BBQ dinner -- or so I thought.
We got home from dinner and started packing up and I was in bed shortly after midnight. We planned to leave around 8 the next morning to head back to Maryland. Well, that WAS the plan.
I woke up around 3 in the morning feeling awful. I tried to get comfortable but just couldn't sleep. I ended up keeping Andy up the rest of the night too. Around 7 or so I got horribly sick. I couldn't seem to keep anything down. I called my doctor in Maryland and she said I needed to the hospital and get checked out before I even thought about driving home.
My mom and I went to her OB hoping that we could get seen there instead and avoid a trip to the hospital. But, no such luck. I got to the hospital around 9 a.m. and didn't leave there until nearly 1 p.m. The good news is the baby is fine and I didn't have any serious infection or dehydration. I just had to get a shot to keep from throwing up so that I didn't get dehydrated and I was cleared for the road trip.
The bad news is the road trip was 12 hours long. And that's not fun when you're not pregnant or not sick. And it certainly isn't fun when you're both. But we survived (and even swung by Gatlinburg -- more to come on that). We got home around 3 a.m. and I was asleep within about 10 minutes. And I basically slept all day yesterday. I'm feeling much better today, although not entirely myself. Still not sure if I got some sort of bug or just some bad ribs. Either way, no BBQ for me for a while. (Sorry, Andy).
