Sorry for the LONG break

Hopefully I still have readers after taking more than a month off from blogging. I wish I had some fabulous excuse like I had been vacationing in some remote location with no Internet access.

The truth is I've been lazy and my home computer is VERY slow. I get impatient waiting for it to boot up and load the Internet. It used to be super fast but now it's painfully slow. I'm sure it would be a matter of somebody who knows more about computers than I do taking about an hour with it and fixing it but we just haven't had a chance to take it somewhere.

Anyway, I don't have too many exciting adventures to fill you in, but some cool stuff has happened in the past month. And I'll have a lot to blog about in the coming weeks as my brother and his family get here for a weeklong vacation. It's starts with my niece Stevi's birthday on Friday the 13th and continues through that next Saturday. So look for some lengthy blogs coming soon!

As for now, I'll start with Memorial Day weekend and work backwards. That was a much-needed three-day weekend and we made the most of it! Andy had to do a little work over the weekend but it entailed going to a minor league baseball game Sunday at the Bowie Baysox Stadium so don't feel too bad for him! Apparently it was Pat Sajak Bobblehead Day. That's right, I said Pat Sajak Bobblehead Day.

See, it's as ridiculous as it sounded!

Anyway, Sunday was a nice day. It started in the morning with a trip to the airport to pick my friend Joye up. She was in town for a wedding so we got to have breakfast together and visit for a bit. I took her to Garry's Grill nearby (which is the place where Andy took me on my birthday when I was craving banana pancakes). Once again, it did not disappoint. (Note to all of you: If you come to visit me, tell me to take you there for breakfast while you are here.) The special on the menu looked so good we both ordered it. See for yourself!

Here's Joye enjoying her bananas foster french toast. And yes, it's as good as it sounds!

After my much-too-short-but-still-wonderful visit with Joye, I came home for a bit then headed to a cookout down the street at a friend of a friend's. It was a beautiful day so it was nice to be outside. They have a very eco-friendly house where everything runs on solar power and the back deck is made out of recycled materials. It's a beautiful home they custom designed right in the heart of Annapolis. Anyway, the drinks were good and the food even better so it was a great time.

On Monday Andy and I spent part of the afternoon at our local favorite hangout Ram's Head. Anyone who has come to visit us has probably come here with us. They have a great microbrew and the food is really good too.

That about wraps up the Memorial Day festivities. I'll cover our first trip to the new Nationals Stadium next ...
