Mike, Lynda, Stevi and Chloe flew out from Arizona to spend a whole week here with us. They kicked off the trip on Friday -- Stevi's big day. We took her to a Japanese steakhouse which turned out to be a big hit. The food was great and the atmosphere was a lot of fun. The girls had never been to a Japanese steakhouse before so they "oohed" and "ahhed" appropriately at all the fun tricks the chef performed.
We topped the evening off with ice cream cake and presents back at our place and it was a great first day.
The next morning we headed down to Annapolis to see the sites the city here has to offer. We walked around for a bit and had lunch at our favorite spot -- Ram's Head -- then headed out to Baltimore to check out the Inner Harbor.
We started at the Trade Center which has a great view from the top of the whole Harbor. Next we headed to the USS Constellation (a Civil War era ship that intercepted slave ships) and USS Torsk (a World War II submarine). Here's a few shots from the ships.
Next we hit the Baltimore National Aquarium, which is a great aquarium. I know, the Atlanta one is awesome too and I'm not comparing ... I'm just saying -- it's really cool.
Chloe makes her best fish face.
When we were at the aquarium it occurred to us that we were just around the corner from Edgar Allan Poe's gravesite (Westminster Hall and Burying Ground) and since Mike and I are big fans, we headed over there too.
We got way more than we bargained for here because we had no idea it was practically a burial ground "who's who" of Revolutionary War heroes. And what a cool place too!
This is just a cool shot of the graveyard.
Edgar Allan Poe's grave.
Since I can only fit a few pictures per post, I'm putting all my pictures on Flickr. Just click here to view them all. Make sure to read the captions -- just click details or view as slideshow and click on the picture to read the caption.
That's it for Day 1 -- I'll post about Day 2: Mount Vernon tomorrow.
