Now that I took so long with my last blog, and all that stuff's two weeks old, I'll update you on the conclusion of my trip then move on tomorrow to new topics.
Here goes: Wake up at 3 a.m. for a 5 a.m. flight out of Medford on 2 hours of sleep. Layover in Portland ... make it just fine but leave a little late. Get to San Francisco in the international terminal because the flight I was on was headed to Cabo.
There are no signs for domestic flights, so I have no idea what gate to go to for my next layover in Chicago, and I only have 30 minutes till my flight leaves. It takes me a few minutes to find someone and of course, my gate is in a completely different terminal. I have to exit and go back through security. I'm sprinting through the San Francisco airport with bags in tow. I'm directed to the wrong security line where I waste another 5 minutes. Sprinting again ... make it through the gate ... still have 5 minutes ... sweating ... sleepy ... hungry ...
I run up to the gate and can't believe I actually made it. But wait ... uh-oh it's delayed by an hour. I have only an hour layover in Chicago. Frustrated and still very hungry and sleepy, I leave the gate and grab a sandwich. I come back and talk to the woman at the service desk, explaining my layover situation.
"Oh, yeah, we better get you on another flight," she says. "Ohhh, looks like yours is the last one out of Chicago into Baltimore for the day." Remembering how that ended up for me in San Francisco, I was just about to have a complete breakdown ... well, at least Chicago is a cool city. But then it turns out there was a flight going in to D.C. later that night, so she booked me on that and then left me on my flight into Baltimore just in case by the grace of God I somehow made that flight.
I actually did make that flight. Thank you, grace of God.
I finally got home at 8 p.m. (remember, my travel started at 5 a.m.). Andy and I grabbed some dinner and then I was very happy to be home. Never, ever, ever again will I book a flight with 3 layovers to save a couple hundred bucks ... I'll get a part-time job or something next time. ;)

Thank you for the end of the story...I was waiting on the edge of my seat (seriously, I was really looking forward to the conclusion of your trip!)
Glad you made it, and after my last layover nightmare on the way to Phoenix - never again will I book a flight with layovers in multiple stops!
