My first Mother's Day

Warning: This post will have some serious gushing in it :)

I've always known that being a mom would be the most meaningful and rewarding thing I'd do in my life. When my nephew and nieces were born, I couldn't believe how much I loved them. So much so, in fact, that it scared me a little because I knew that nothing compares to the love you feel for your own child and I wondered how my heart could even withstand it!

Turns out it can. And it just keeps growing and growing. There are times when I look at that little guy and I swear I can actually feel my heart swell. (I warned you I was going to gush). And here more than 9 months later, sometimes I still can't believe he's mine -- that Andy and I made him. He's such an amazing little boy and every day he's growing and learning so much.

It's so much fun to watch his little mind working on overdrive as he masters a new trick. I can't believe how fast time is flying.

For my first Mother's Day Owen and I got up early (a little too early for my taste after a sleepless night) and played for a couple hours till it was time for his first nap. After the nap, Owen and Andy gave me my first Mother's Day cards (along with a fabulous gift certificate for a one-hour massage that I can't wait to get!) and we headed to Annapolis for sushi. It was a beautiful day too so we really got to enjoy the Annapolis scene. As long as we're in Maryland, sushi lunch will definitely be a Mother's Day tradition.

After lunch we spent a little time walking around and then headed home. All in all, a great Mother's Day. Being a mom really is an amazing experience. It's also made me appreciate my own mom even more. I only wish she lived closer because it's also made me miss her more than ever! Love you mom and Happy Mother's Day!
