By the time you can read this on your own, you'll already know that your mommy is a BIG sap. You know, the kind of person who cries during all the cheesey holiday commercials, and romantic comedies, and, well, pretty much any tender moment.
So here goes with my sappy Valentine to you, my baby boy, on your first Valentine's Day.
When you were born you gave our little family just what it had been missing! And you instantly became the love of your mommy and daddy's lives. And even though as I write this you're upstairs SCREAMING, refusing to go to sleep, you are absolutely perfect. We took you out to dinner with us tonight, and as always, you were such a good and patient little boy. I'm sure we could've gotten someone to watch you, but it just didn't seem right to celebrate Valentine's Day without you. After all, today is a celebration of love. And the truth is I love you so much that sometimes I think my heart will actually burst. I know your daddy feels the same way (and truth be told, he's kind of a sap too ;)
So today, Little Owen, on your very first Valentine's Day I want you to know that I love you with all my heart. You're such a sweet little guy, and I melt every time you smile at me. I love watching your curious little eyes and expressions as you learn something new. I can't wait to watch you grow up and discover all the wonderful things this world has to offer you (but don't grow up too fast!).
I understand now what everyone means when they say there's nothing like the love you feel for your own child. And though it doesn't seem possible for my heart to withstand it, I love you more every day.
