Anyway, back to my vacation that was now over a month ago. Where did I leave off ... I believe with Monday. On Monday we slept in a little bit and headed down to D.C. to hit the National Archives and see the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. What an amazing experience to stand in front of those two documents. It's also sad to think that despite all the preservation efforts, you probably won't be able to read them at all in a few more decades.
Here are a few pictures -- and no I did NOT use my flash. That's why they look kinda funny.
Here's the U.S. Constitution
Another shot of the Constitution.
The Declaration of Independence
All the signatures on the Declaration.
After being uplifted by these amazing articles put together by our country's forefathers, we headed to the Holocaust Museum to see the darker side of humanity.
I definitely believe the Holocaust Museum is something everybody should see once because it's important to remember the capability of evil. It's not easy to take but then again it shouldn't be. Allow a lot of time for this one as there is a lot of ground to cover and if you're like me and actually want to read all the information there, it's going to take several hours to get through. At the end of the museum is a very touching tribute called the Hall of Remembrance. I didn't take pictures, but you can see what it's about here.
After the museum we headed home for dinner and to rest up for Tuesday, which involved a full day of walking -- about 15+ miles! Stay tuned for more ... :)
