Back in the hollers

Tomorrow I head back to the mountains of Appalachia for work. This time, it's in a completely different capacity though. I'll be participating in Christian Appalachian Project's WorkFest program. Basically it's a volunteer program where mostly college kids forego their typical spring break festivities to help build and repair houses for people in Appalachia. Think Habitat for Humanity -- sort of.

Anyway, I head over there after work tomorrow, catching a 7:00 p.m. flight and arriving in Lexington around 10:30. From there we have an hour or so drive to our hotel.

We'll up bright and early the next morning and out to the worksite by 7 a.m. where we'll be all day -- till dinner time or so. Then we're back there first thing Wednesday morning and will work till mid-afternoon or so before we catch a 6 p.m. flight back home. By the time I get home, I'll be good and exhausted. But it will be for a good cause, and I'm actually looking forward to it. Except that I'll miss out on Andy's annual corned beef, cabbage and Guinness dinner for St. Patrick's Day. So sad.

I should have pictures and good stories to post when I get back in town Wednesday. But don't count on it going up until the weekend. I'll have a lot of work to catch up on when I get back!

I hope they'll give you just a little time to check out the town. Neat, neat place. I know. I live here. :)
